Troubleshooting "Failed to start [vm_id] domain" errors

You should see an error like this in the logs. It may be the case that there's some additional information between the "Running: create_domain_xml" line and the "Options" line that should point to an error

Fatal: Failed to start [txqzkglsdadfaa] domain
  1. Check if the VM is a Windows 2016 VM. If so, the client probably needs to enable CPU flags as outlined on this page: https://docs.onapp.com/agm/latest/appliances/virtual-servers/create-virtual-server
  2. Check if the HV has enough RAM for the VM
  3. If the VM is not Windows based, and there is plenty of RAM available, double check version. 5.5-92 on requires grub2. If recent Upgrade occurred, then these tools may not properly be there. This can be done with: ls -la /onapp/tools on the HV.
