Question
How can I take offline one or more CloudBoot compute resources?
Answer
You can take offline one or more CloudBoot compute resources either by rebalancing or by degrading VDisks.
To make a compute resource offline by rebalancing:
- Make sure all disks are not degraded.
- Go to your Control Panel > Integrated Storage > Nodes.
- On the page that loads, filter by compute resource.
- Choose the first node and click the Identifier.
- Click Show Disks and choose the required disk.
- Rebalance a disk onto another compute resource.
- Repeat for all remaining disks on the nodes of this compute resource.
To make a compute resource offline by degrading disks:
- Make sure all disks are not degraded.
- Ensure that the VDisks have sufficient redundancy (including datastore configuration having 2 replicas and more, and compute resource redundancy). The VDisks should not have more than 1 replica on the same compute resource.
- Migrate all VSs from first compute resource elsewhere on the cloud.
- Power off the compute resource. Ensure to perform the maintenance prior to PXE booting.
- Reboot empty compute resource.
- Check diagnostics page to make sure all nodes are active (Integrated Storage > Compute Zones > Diagnostics).
- Do a Repair All on the degraded VDisks:
- Click the Integrated Storage menu, and then the label of a data store to show the virtual disks in that store.
- Click the disk label.
- On the screen that appears, select the Repair option next to the Consistency field. Note that only one VDisk can be repaired at a time.
- When the disk is successfully repaired, the consistency value will be changed from the "Degraded" to "Fully synced'.
- Once the content has been re-balanced, the disk will display a green icon again to indicate that all content is fully up to date.
