Question
How is DDoS handled with regard to OnApp CDN?
Environment
CDN
Answer
DDos is one of the risks when users put on their PoPs on our CDN federation, since it is public facing and subscribed by other providers to serve traffic for their CDN sites. When DDoS is detected at the edge servers, we would strongly advise our client to shut down their edge servers temporary and null route the IP to avoid further attacks. You may bring your server back online when you are comfortable.
At our side, when a CDN site is undergoing DDoS, we will suspend the CDN site as soon as we detected it. In any case, if the DDoS is attacking the edge server directly (instead of CDN site), our abilities are pretty limited.
