Question
How do I know when a VS needs to failover?
Environment
OnApp with draas.io
Answer
The DRaaS Dashboard receives regular updates from the Control Panel reporting the status of all the Virtual Servers with DRaaS enabled. If it doesn't receive an update, it will actively check to see if the VS is still running. If a VS appears to be failed, then the Dashboard will send you an email and will raise an alert when you log in to the DRaaS Dashboard.
Failover is intended to be a final resort when migration and other recovery options have failed. Consequently, we have chosen to make failover a manual action - in order to failover a VS you have to click on the failover button in the dashboard.
The Failover button is always visible on the VS details page on the Dashboard in order to allow you to run failover thoroughly.
