Stop disks being added to Data Store

Question

How can I stop disks from being added to a particular data store?

Answer

When you create a new VM you can select a data store zone, and the system will automatically select a data store with more available disk space.

You can make a data store unavailable for new VMs:

  1. Go to Settings -> Data Stores menu.
  2. Click the label of required data store.
  3. Press the Edit button at the bottom of the list.
  4. On the screen that appears untick Enable checkbox and press Save button.

To put that Data Store back to normal just go back to the same place to re-enable.

Additional Information

These actions will have no impact on the disks already stored on this data store.
