Question
When attempting to add a Data Store to a hypervisor in the UI, the Data Store does not appear in the drop down list. Why?
Environment
LVM/SAN Data Stores
Answer
If a Data Store is supposed to be shared but has a "No" in the shared column, then it can't be added to any other hypervisors.
Go to https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/settings/data_stores:
- Edit Data Store
- Make sure "Local Hypervisor" is blank.
- Make sure the Data Store is enabled.
- Save.
Additional Info
If the storage is local to the hypervisor, then it cannot be shared by simply modifying this setting.
If the datastore is OnApp Integrated Storage and the HV is not in the same zone, then it isn't accessible for use by that HV anyway.
